• 1. Do non-Indian passport holders need special permits for a Kailash tour?

  Yes. Besides a Tibet Travel Permit, all foreign travelers must obtain the Aliens’ Travel Permit and the Military Permit to visit Mount Kailash and Ngari. These documents can only be applied through a registered Tibet travel agency, and we handle the entire permit application process once your tour is confirmed.

• 2. Can I travel independently to Mount Kailash?

  No. Independent travel is not allowed in Tibet. Non-Indian passport holders must join an organized group or private tour with a licensed Tibetan guide, a pre-arranged itinerary, and a private vehicle. Self-driving options are available but still require a full itinerary arranged by an authorized agency.

• 3. When is the best time for non-Indian travelers to visit Kailash?

  The best months are May to mid-October, when the weather is clear, the roads are accessible, and temperatures are more stable. June and September are ideal for the Kailash Kora. Winter (November–April) is not recommended due to extreme cold and possible road closures in Ngari.

• 4. Is the Kailash Kora physically difficult?

  The 3-day Kailash Kora is challenging because of the high altitude, especially the pass at Dolma La (5,630 m). Good physical condition and proper acclimatization in Lhasa, Shigatse, or Saga are essential. Non-Indian travelers who prefer a more relaxed itinerary can choose our non-Kora Ngari routes.

• 5. Can I travel from Kathmandu to Kailash?

  Yes. There are two main routes:
  • Overland via Gyirong Port (small group or private tours)
  • Flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa followed by a classic Lhasa–Kailash journey
  Helicopter options to Hilsa are also available for travelers who want a faster or more scenic route.

• 6. Are vegetarian or special dietary requests available during the tour?

  In major cities like Lhasa and Shigatse, vegetarian meals and simple dietary needs can be arranged. In remote areas like Saga, Darchen, and during the Kora, choices are limited, but we help arrange meals as close to your requirements as possible. Bringing snacks, instant meals, or supplements is recommended.

• 7. What accommodations can I expect during a Kailash tour?

  Hotels in Lhasa, Shigatse, and Gyantse offer comfortable 3–4-star conditions. In Western Tibet (Saga, Darchen, Lake Manasarovar), accommodation is much simpler, usually guesthouses with shared bathrooms. During the Kora, only basic teahouse-style lodging is available. We provide sleeping bag suggestions for extra comfort and warmth.

• 8. Is altitude sickness common? How can I prepare?

  Yes, the Kailash region averages 4,000–5,600 meters, so altitude sickness is possible. We design itineraries with gradual acclimatization, professional guidance, oxygen supplies in vehicles, and 24/7 support. Before traveling, sleep well, stay hydrated, avoid heavy exercise, and consult your doctor about altitude medication if needed.
