• 1. Why fly to Ngari instead of driving from Lhasa?

  Flying to Ngari saves two to three days of long overland travel and reduces fatigue at the start of the trip. You arrive directly in the Kailash region, allowing more time for rest, sightseeing, or the kora.

• 2. Will flying to Ngari cause altitude problems?

  Ngari is at high elevation, so some travelers may feel mild discomfort upon arrival. To reduce risks, we schedule a slower pace on Day 1–2 in Ngari with plenty of rest. Most travelers adapt well under the guidance of our experienced Tibetan team.

• 3. Is the Kailash kora required?

  No. The kora is optional.

  You can complete the 3-day trek if you want the full pilgrimage experience.

  Travelers who prefer not to trek can enjoy sightseeing around Darchen and Manasarovar instead.

• 4. What is the driving experience like on the return to Lhasa?

  The overland return covers major highlights such as Saga, Shigatse, and Mount Everest Base Camp. Roads are generally in good condition, and we use comfortable 4WD vehicles with professional drivers, ensuring a safe and scenic journey.

• 5. Does this tour include Everest Base Camp?

  Yes. On the return route, you will visit Rongbuk Monastery and stay near the Everest Base Camp area, giving you a clear view of the world’s highest mountain (weather permitting).

• 6. What permits are required for this itinerary?

  You will need:
  Tibet Travel Permit
  Alien’s Travel Permit
  Military Permit (for Ngari)
  Border Pass

  We handle all required permits automatically after your booking is confirmed.

• 7. Are accommodations comfortable on this route?

  In Lhasa, Shigatse, and Saga, hotels are typically 3-star or 4-star. In the Kailash region and near Everest, accommodation becomes simpler guesthouses due to remoteness. We always select the safest and cleanest available options.

• 8. Is this tour suitable for seniors or families?

  Yes, as long as travelers are healthy and accustomed to high altitude. For seniors or families with children, we recommend:
  taking the non-kora option, or
  adding extra rest days around Ngari or Shigatse if needed.

• 9. What is the best time to take this fly-in & drive-back tour?

  The ideal season is May to October, when weather is stable and flights to Ngari operate regularly. These months also offer the clearest views of Mount Everest and Mount Kailash.

• 10. Can the itinerary be customized?

  Absolutely. You may add extra days in Ngari, upgrade hotels in Lhasa or Shigatse, adjust pacing, or include special interests such as Guge Kingdom ruins or Saga Dawa Festival timing. We can tailor the route based on your needs.

• 11. Can I fly from Lhasa to Purang (Burang) instead of Ngari?

  Yes. In addition to flying to Ngari Gunsa Airport, it is also possible to take a seasonal flight from Lhasa to Purang (Burang), which is even closer to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. This option can shorten the driving distance on arrival day and make the itinerary more relaxed. Since Purang flights are limited and may not operate daily, we can adjust your schedule based on flight availability and customize the route accordingly.
